COACH
I have over 20 years of coaching experience. My own sporting background includes triathlon, cycling and sprinting. I have coached both National and State level champion runners. Regardless of the sport or the athlete I have coached, I have always maintained that speed must be the fundamental grounding for each sport.
I have observed the way junior sports teams are coached. The focus is almost universally on team play and ball skills. And that makes perfect sense. There is only so many minutes in a session. But it also leaves a skill deficiency. A deficiency that cannot be corrected with adhoc speed advice and tips at the end of a training session. Speed coaching only works when the focus is 100 percent speed. My focus, for duration of every session, is dedicated solely to speed development.
SPEED. NOT BASKETBALL.
Emma has observed the way basketball teams are coached. The focus is almost universally on team play and ball skills. And that makes perfect sense. There’s only so many minutes in a session. But it also leaves a skill deficiency. A deficiency that cannot be corrected with adhoc speed advice and tips at the end of a training session. Speed coaching only works when the focus is 100% speed. Emma’s focus, for the full 45 minutes of every session, is dedicated solely to speed development.

THE NEED FOR SPEED.
You can hit lay ups from both sides.Yet all these attributes can be comprised with one weakness – A lack of Speed. The speed to drive past an opponent. The ability to run full court to lay a block when others can only watch. The agility to change direction at pace. The power to push past an opponent mid-court.
That is why Little Rockets was created.
